Business Process Analysis and Proposal

Summary

I have done the Business Process Analysis and Proposal generation for small and mid size businesses in a very structured way so that the customers understood clearly how the current processes work, where the gaps are and how they can be fixed. A good structure was needed to get these tasks done in a certain time, and to get the message clearly across.

Details

The Business Process Analysis (BPA) consisted of the following general steps:

  1. Gather the important business documents (reports, sheets), description of the current business processes and systems,

  2. Interviewing the main stakeholders about the business process flow

  3. Analyze the current systems and system flow

  4. Document all above in a structured way so that the customers understand their current processes, systems and gaps

  5. Present in a comprehensive way the observations and gaps

The proposal or recommendation stage consisted of the following general steps:

  1. The required governance (project plans, project committees, project costs, needed resources and scheduling of resources, needed communication methods and frequencies)

  2. The change management (how to handle changes in organization, business processes, system usage, function assignments, training,..)

  3. The plan for the build of the recommended solution (the gap fixes, resources needed, cost, timeline, deliverables)

  4. Presenting the governance plan, change management plan and the plan for the build

  5. Preparing a detailed plan for the above.

The Value

The customers got a very good understanding of the gaps and how they can be fixed. They also understood very well the required resources, costs and timeline. They got a plan against which they can measure progress. They also understood the priorities regarding resources (hiring, software, systems), gap fixes and training.
