Field Service Experience: IT Projects

Summary

​

I managed the automation of several field service (home improvement) companies. For NED Stevens, my company developed a field service ERP that managed all the business functions except the accounting. For Home On The Spot, a Microsoft Business Financial system was implemented besides a computer network, computers, CCTV and VoiP. For this client, the implementation was done full time at the client site which involved us in the daily operation of the business.

  • Field Service ERP

​

I proposed and designed the following modules of the proprietary web based Field Service ERP:

​

  • CRM

  • Employee management

    • Employee records

    • User ids with access restrictions

  • Inventory management

    • Stock items

    • Non-stock items (labor/services)

  • Order management for consumers and businesses

    • Sales orders

    • Service orders with contracts

  • Sales assignment and commission management

  • Job creation and scheduling

    • A job ticket was created for each sales order

    • The optimal route for a truck was determined using an Truck Route Optimization algorithm based on GPS coordinates.

    • The job ticket had a barcode for each task to be done by the truck crew. A checkoff box was provided for each barcode/task.

    • Upon completion of the route, the crew came back to the office to have each job ticket scanned

  • Invoicing

    • The invoice was created from the scanned job ticket

    • The invoice data was automatically transferred to Quickbooks

  • Credit card processing

    • The customer credit card payments were submitted to the bank, which gave us the credit card payment acknowledgements. Those acknowledgements were transferred to Quickbooks

  • Sales performance reports

    • Sales were reported by service, by sales person, by customer, by week, by month, by quarter, etc.

    • Jobs that were incomplete or had a customer complaint were reported by crew, and had a penalty for that crew. On the other hand high performance scores were rewarded.

  • Inbound and Outbound Phone System for Telemarketing

    • Installation of PBX with web interface

    • Integration of automatica dialing system using prepared calling lists

  • LAN networking

  • Installation of web servers and database servers with auto backup

I implemented Microsoft Business Financial system which has the following features:

  • CRM

  • Accounting (GL, Cash management, AR, AP, Financial reports)

  • Inventory management

    • Stock items

    • Non-stock items (labor/services)

  • Order management for consumers and businesses

    • Sales orders

    • Service orders with contracts

  • Invoicing

    • The invoice was created from the scanned job ticket

    • The invoice data was automatically transferred to Quickbooks

  • Credit card processing

    • The customer credit card payments were processed via a gateway

  • Sales performance reports

    • Sales were reported by service, by sales person, by customer, by week, by month, by quarter, etc.

  • VoIP: IP PBX and IP phones
    • Installation of about 15 IP phones

  • LAN networking

  • WAN networking with remote access to VOIP, CCTV and servers

  • Installation of servers and computers

  • CCTV:Installation of DVR and infrared cameras. Set up of web interface and internet connection
